Belogorsk, Amur Oblast

Belogorsk ( _ru. Белого́рск) is a town in Amur Oblast, Russia, located on the Tom River (Zeya's tributary). Population: 67,400 (2005 est.); 67,422 (2002 Census); 73,435 (1989 Census); 53,000 (1969); 34,000 (1939).

Belogorsk was founded in 1860 as Alexandrovskoye and was renamed Alexandrovka and granted town status in 1926. It was again renamed in 1931 as Krasnopartizansk, and in 1936 as Kuybyshevka-Vostochnaya. It was finally renamed Belogorsk in 1957.
