M-199 is a short highway in the US state of Michigan. The western terminus of the 3.98 mile-long road is in Sheridan Township at exit 119 off I-94. The eastern terminus is a junction with BL I-94 in the city of Albion. The entire road is within Calhoun County. Although M-199 is nominally a "child" route of M-99, which also passes through Albion, the two routes do not officially connect. M-99 enters Albion from the south on Superior St. and turns to the east at the intersection with Michigan Ave. in downtown, while M-199 ends a few blocks northwest of that point.

Route description

Most of the route outside of Albion is a two-lane blacktop. The road expands to four lanes inside the city. For most of its length, starting from its eastern terminus at the junction with Eaton Road, M-199 follows the old route of Michigan Avenue (although it is now named "Austin Avenue" within the Albion city limits). It continues north on 25½ Mile Road and 26 Mile Road to I-94. The route received the M-199 designation in 1998.

History

From July 12, 1933 to August 13, 1939, an earlier designation of M-199 was for a short spur route from US 41 into Daggett in Menominee County. The designation was revived on October 31, 1998 for the current routing.[1]

Major intersections

The entire highway is in Calhoun County.
