History

Despite its important role in the rail transportation in the Tokyo waterfront, the station is relatively new. It first opened in 1988. The station had grown into a junction of three lines by 1996.
*1988-06-08 - Teito Rapid Transit Authority (TRTA) starts operation of Shin-Kiba Station on the Yūrakuchō Line as its new southern terminal.
*1988-12-01 - JR East starts operation of Shin-Kiba Station on the Keiyō Line as its western terminal
*1990-03-10 - JR extends the Keiyō Line from Shin-Kiba Station to Tokyo Station, makes the station intermediate
*1996-03-30 - TWR starts operation of Shin-Kiba Station as its eastern terminal.
*2002-12-01 - Saikyō Line trains extend operation to Shin-Kiba Station via the Rinkai Line
*2004-04-01 - TRTA becomes Tokyo Metro
