Ken Reginald Kowalski, MLA was born
September 27 ,1945 inBonnyville, Alberta is a politician and current Speaker of theLegislative Assembly of Alberta . Among the current MLAs, he is the longest-serving. He was elected in a 1979 by-election and has won all subsequent provincial elections to date for the Progressive Conservative party of Alberta.Prior to his long stint in public office, he was a teacher at Barrhead High School, and was a civil servant working for the Alberta government in the 1970's.
Kowalski has served some high profile positions in the past including Government House Leader from
June 15 ,1993 toDecember 15 ,1993 andDeputy Premier from 1992 to 1994. He has served as Speaker since 1997.External links
