HM Prison Frankland is a prison located at Brasside, near Durham, England. It holds male prisoners who are over 21 years old and whose sentence is four years or more, and high risk remand prisoners. The prison has an operational capacity of 734 (as of January 31, 2006). The Governor of the prison is David R. It was originally opened in 1980 [cite web |url=http://www.criminal-information-agency.com/prison_record_1.php?prisonchoice=51 |title=HMP Frankland |accessdate=2007-07-22 |work=Criminal Information Agency] with four wings each holding 108 in single cells. A further two wings opened in 1998 to an open gallery design to hold an additional 206. A specialist Dangerous and Severe Personality Disorder (DSPD) unit opened at the prison in May 2004. HMP Frankland had an Operational capacity of 734 as of 31st January 2006. The prison has increased in size in recent years following major redevelopment work including the construction of the new DSPD 'Westgate Unit'.

The prison is currently home to Ian Huntley, convicted of the Soham murders.
