Shrewsbury High School (England)

Shrewsbury High School (SHS) is a school for girls in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. Founded in 1885, Shrewsbury High is one of the smaller schools in the Girls' Day School Trust, having roughly 750 pupils aged 3 to 18.

The Senior Department is located on Town Walls, by the banks of the River Severn. The Junior Department is separate from the Senior Department and is situated a short walk away in Kennedy Road.

The school was founded in 1885 in Clive House, Shrewsbury, and relocated to the current building on Town Walls in 1896. Shrewsbury high School has benefitted from continual investment in improved facilities, most recently the £1.8 Million Kingsland Centre including a new Sports Hall, ICT learning suite and Art Room.Shrewsbury High School has recently acquired Kingsland Grange School, an established feeder school for Shrewsbury School to create a new Prep School. From September 2008 all girls and boys aged 2-7 will go to the Pre-Prep Department on the Junior School site whilst pupils aged 8-11 will attend the Prep Department on the Kingsland Grange site. A key part of this development is the construction of a new teaching block due to open in September 2008.

Mrs. Marilyn Cass is the head of Shrewsbury High School and Mrs. Maria Edwards and Mr Martin James are Joint Heads of the Prep School.
