Nan'yō (南陽市 Nan'yō-shi?) is a city located in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan.

As of 2008, the city has an estimated population of 34,405 and the population density of 214 persons per km². The total area is 160.70 km². Nan'yō is the second biggest producer of cherries in Japan.

The city was founded on April 1, 1967, and consists of a number of towns and villages. These include

The English travel-writer Isabella Bird visited Akayu in 1878 and wrote about the town in Unbeaten Tracks in Japan. Akayu is famous for its hot springs, cherries and hang gliding. Miyauchi is famous for its chrysanthemum festival and the Kumanotaisha Shrine.
