Tanur is a small town in the
Tirur tehsil ,Malappuram district ofKerala state,South India . Tanur is located north of Tirur, on the coastal line, around 9 km away from the Tirur town.History
The small coastal fishing town of Tanur was one of the oldest
muslim settlements of India.Many ancientmosques are situated here.This was once a Portuguese colony. It is believed that "St.Francis Xavier " visited Tanur in1546 AD.Points of interest

Keraladheeshwarapuram Temple or K Puram , dedicated to LordKrishna and believed to be one of the oldestHindu temple s in Kerala. Every year in the malayalam month of Vrischikam, festival of seven days used to celebrate in a grant manner.Trikkaikattu Temple and Math situated at Pariyapuram, 3 km North of Tanur. Math was founded by Sri Sankaracharya. The temple dedicated to LordSiva which is situated on top of a hill. There is also a famous Ayyapan Temple. Tanur also has a beautiful beach.Vettakkorumakan Temple at Rayirimangalam is also a famous temple.Shobha Parambu Devi temple is a very famous temple in this area which is located in Tanur itself. Kalankari - is a famous ritual celebration performed in this temple every year for which thousands of devotees used to be present.old people used to say --- Tanur is very famous for Jack fruit----
