Population

The density of population is varies widely from one parish to the next, with those parishes closer to Ferrol having most of the population, while the more distant ones often have very low densities.

Parishes

The borough is divided into 8 parishes, also known as "Parroquias", which differ from each other in extension, population density, economic activities and levels of industrialization.

Industry

The Navantia Shipyards and services in the parts which are nearer Ferrol, the rest of the borough devotes itself to farming, agriculture and fishing.

In the late 1960s the gantry crane of the shipyards of ASTANO in Ferrolterra was the largest in Europe.

Climate

Due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, it could be said that Fene experiences only mild oscillation in its weather conditions from winter to summer. The weather is mild year-round, almost as if there were one only season, which is very different from other parts of the Iberian Peninsula. Like the rest of Galicia, it is rainy and beautifully verdant. Still, summer tends to be a bit dryer than winter.
