Tony McManus

Tony McManus (born 1965, Paisley) is a Scottish acoustic Celtic folk guitarist of Irish descent.cite news|url=http://www.tonymcmanus.com |title=Tony McManus Official Website|publisher=tonymcmanus.com] cite news|url=http://www.guitarweekends.co.uk/T_McManus.htm |title=Tony McManus biography|publisher=Guitarweekends.co.uk] He is highly regarded for his exceptional skill and expressive playing. English guitarist John Renbourn described McManus as "the best Celtic guitarist in the world". His first self-titled album was released in 1996 on Greentrax Recordings. His second album, entitled "Pourquoi Quebec?", was recorded in Quebec, Canada and released on the same label in January 1998. His third album, "Ceol More", was released in 2002 and achieved widespread critical acclaim. Ceol More exhibits not only McManus's proficiency as a guitarist, but also as an arranger, including a version of Charles Mingus's Goodbye Porkpie Hat. He has recorded duets with noted Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser, and recently released an album with French bassist Alain Genty, entitled Singing Sands.
