FitzRoy Henry Lee

Fitzroy Henry Lee (c. 1698 – April 14, 1750) was a naval officer, Commodore Governor of Newfoundland, Canada, and grandson of Charles II. He was supposedly the model for Hawser Trunnion from Tobias Smollett's "The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle". [J. K. Laughton, ‘Lee, Fitzroy Henry (1699–1750)’, rev. Philip Carter, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford University Press, 2004]

Lee was son of 1st Earl of Lichfield and Charles II's illegitimate daughter Lady Charlotte Fitzroy. He was born in Oxfordshire, England.

He entered the Royal Navy in 1716 and in May 1735 was commissioned Governor of Newfoundland. Lee was known for debauchery and drunkenness which subsequently led him been relieved of his naval command around 1746.
