bonuses = The Prix de la Forêt is a Group 1 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 1,400 metres (approximately 7 furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse, and it takes place annually, presently in late September or early October.

First run in 1858, the race was originally held at Chantilly. Its title refers to the "Forêt de Chantilly", a 6,000 hectare forest which is situated alongside the racecourse. Initially the event was run over a distance of 2,100 metres, and it was contested by colts and fillies aged two or three-years-old. It took place in late October.

The Prix de la Forêt was cancelled in 1870 because of the Franco-Prussian War. In 1878 there were two changes – the race's distance was cut to 1,600 metres, and it was opened to all horses, excluding geldings, aged two-years-old or above. After another cancellation in 1906 the race was transferred to its present home, Longchamp.

The event was abandoned throughout World War I, with no running from 1914 to 1918. Its present distance, 1,400 metres, was introduced in 1923. During World War II the Prix de la Forêt was cancelled only once, in 1939. Thereafter, when it could not be run at Longchamp, it was temporarily switched to Auteuil (1940) and Tremblay (1943–44).

Since the mid 1990s the conditions of the Prix de la Forêt have been modified twice. Firstly, in 1995, the race was closed to two-year-olds, and secondly, in 2001, it was opened to geldings. It was moved to its present calendar position, the Saturday of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend, in 2005. The "Arc" itself takes place on the first Sunday in October.

Five horses have won the Prix de la Forêt on two occasions, most recently Moorestyle in 1980 and 1981. The fastest winning time over its present distance is 1m 18.4s, recorded by Poplar Bluff in 1995.
