Galleria of Pittsburgh

Galleria of Pittsburgh

The Galleria of Mt. Lebanon is an upscale shopping mall located in the southern Pittsburgh suburb of Mt. Lebanon. It currently appeals to the finer tastes of shoppers in the area.

It opened on the corner of Washington Rd. (U.S. 19) and Gilkeson Rd. in 1964 as a Kaufmann's department store with convert|250000|sqft|m2 of interior retail space. In 1988, the building was converted into a 62-space shopping mall after Kaufmann's was ordered to get out and move into the former Gimbels department store building at the nearby South Hills Village mall.

The mall was renovated in 2003 to revive the center, which was losing stores due to the competition of South Hills Village less than a mile away. New stores were added during and after the renovation; it is now home to approximately 40 stores. Anchor tenants include the boutique shops of Restoration Hardware, Williams Sonoma, Talbots and Pottery Barn. The mall announced the addition of Jezzabelle Ladies Wear and Synergy Fitness Spa to open in the spring of 2006. Entertainment and dining offerings at the mall include a six screen cinema and a half dozen dining establishments such as Bravo Cucina Italiana and Mitchell's Fish Market.
