The South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast (Ossetian: Хуссар Ирыстоны автономон бӕстӕ, _ka. სამხრეთ ოსეთის ავტონომიური ოლქი) was an autonomous oblast of the
Soviet Unioncreated within the Georgian SSRon April 20 1922. Its autonomy was revoked on December 10, 1990by the Supreme Sovietof the Georgian SSR. Presently, it is the territory of the separatist enclave of South Ossetia.
