Hospital Radio Ipswich

Hospital Radio Ipswich is a closed loop radio station broadcasting to the patients of the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, and St. Elizabeth's Hospice. It broadcasts a wide range of music ranging from Classical, through to Big Band Music, and general Pop Music.

Many of the programmes it broadcasts are request based, with volunteers going round the hospital, chatting to patients, and collecting requests that they can hear later that day, or later in the week.

On of the more popular programmes is its children's programme "The Tiger Club" which has been on air for over 20 years as of 2006. It was named by the listeners when it first went on air, after John "Tiger" Louis a speedway rider for the Ipswich Witches.

Many professional radio presenters started their careers at Hospital Radio Ipswich. The most well known is now a BBC television reporter on world current affiars, but HRI is as proud of its charitable work as it is of its individual personalities, past and present.

HRI, which is run entirely by volunteers, is a member of the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
