Sakaal

Sakaal ( _mr. सकाळ, meaning "morning" in Marathi) is a Marathi language newspaper based in Pune, Maharashtra. It is published by the Sakaal Media Group.

Sakaal was founded by Dr. Nanasaheb B. Parulekar and began circulation on January 1, 1932. It has a total readership of about 4.56 million (2004) and is published from Pune, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Nashik, Aurangabad, Solapur, Nagpur, Satara and Jalgaon.

The Sakaal Media Group also owns other newspapers such as Gomantak, Gomantak Times and Agrowon, a daily dedicated to agriculture. The Group used to publish an English daily named Maharashtra Herald, which was remodelled as a national daily named Sakaal Times. Sakaal Times was launched on May 7th, 2008.
