Ali Daeem Ali

A defendant in Iraq's Al-Dujail trial, Ali Daeem Ali served as a Baath party official in Dujail in 1982, when he is accused of having participated in the executions of 140 people, and the illegal detentions of 1500.

The charges allege that these were retaliatory killings, as retribution for an attack on Saddam Hussein's motorcade in the region.

In all images of the defendants at trial, Ali is seen seated in the center of the back row.

July 1 2004 - Ali is indicted

October 19 2005 - Trial proceedings begin, Ali pleads Not Guilty, adjourned until November 28

November 28 2005 - Trial resumes, adjourned until December 5th

November 05 2006 - Found guilty and sentenced to 15 years in jail
