"Efí Masoñngo Obane" nBongó narubia is the latest of
Abakuáreligions created in Cuba by a group of prominent members, led by the well-known member of Uriabón Efóand Havananotorious BabalawoRicardo Betancourt Ponce, and also member of Uriabón and MokomgoJuán C. Acevedo Suárez.
After a good number of years of upward struggle fighting the bureaucracies of the religious authorities, finally and by decree of unanimous consent from Nigeria's top Abakuá personalities, Matanzas and Havana sects, the new potency was authorized to be born. The ceremony was held in
Guanabacoaat the sunset of year 2002. Twelve Iremeswere in charge of the dance representation and 16 white doves were released symbolizing freedom, faith and fidelity to the 16 entities of the Africanism in Cuba.
This makes the 136th Abakuá sect since its insertion in Cuba in the 1800s.
