Applewood Heights Secondary School (AHSS) is a public secondary school in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and is part of the Peel District School Board. The school serves around thirteen hundred students with over a hundred teachers and school staff. The current school mascot is a lumberjack, which replaced a hooded axe-wielding executioner in 1998, amid much protest. Applewood is one of only 3 high schools in Mississauga that offers a French immersion program (also Streetsville Secondary School, Clarkson Secondary School). The school commenced operations in 1966. Several portable classrooms were added in the late 1980s and early 1990s to serve the (then) 1800+ students, but decreasing enrollment occurring around the turn of the millennium led to their removal. Applewood is one of the two non-semester schools left in the Peel District School Board (the other is Meadowvale Secondary School).
