Education Minister of Israel

Education Minister of Israel

This article lists Israeli Ministers of Education since the formation of the first government in 1949. The name of the Ministry and the ministerial position associated with it has changed several times;
*Minister of Education and Culture (1949-1977, 1984-1990, 1992-1993)
*Minister of Education, Culture and Sport (1977-1984, 1990-1992, 1993-1999, 2003-2006)
*Minister of Education (1999-2003, 2006-)

The major difference was in the years 1999-2003 and again from 2006, when the Ministry was split into the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Sports. In all other cases, the inclusion or exclusion of sport was semantic as this function remained in Ministry of Education and Culture. Limor Livnat was in 2003 the first and only minister to sit in office while the name and functions of the ministry were changed, from Ministry of Education to Ministry of Education Culture and Sport.
