George de Caunes , was the mother ofCanal+ TV starAntoine de Caunes , and the grandmother of the actressEmma de Caunes . She had also been the wife of Philippe Lagier.Previously a theatre actress, she joined the French public television service (RTF, later
TF1 ) onMay 25 1949 as acontinuity announcer . Continuity announcers of the time appeared live and in-vision to announce later programmes and cover technical breakdowns.She was married to de Caunes between 1953 and 1960. Her son Antoine was born in December 1953.
In both 1959 and 1961 Joubert presented the
Eurovision Song Contest fromCannes .In 1966 she started producing and directing variety programmes for French television, moving on to youth television between 1970 and 1980.
She died in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France in 2005.
