Wilbraham is a
census-designated place(CDP) in the town of Wilbraham in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,544 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield, MassachusettsMetropolitan Statistical Area.
Wilbraham is located at coor dms|42|8|26|N|72|26|7|W|city (42.140563, -72.435532)GR|1.
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 14.7 km²(5.7 mi²). 14.6 km² (5.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.88%) is water.
As of the
censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 3,544 people, 1,247 households, and 981 families residing in the CDP. The population densitywas 242.6/km² (628.2/mi²). There were 1,314 housing units at an average density of 90.0/km² (232.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.12% White, 1.04% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.79% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.41% of the population.
There were 1,247 households out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.2% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.3% were non-families. 18.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 4.1% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.2 males.
