Woodson George "Woodie" Held (born March 25, 1932 in Sacramento, California) is a former shortstop/outfielder in Major League Baseball who played for the New York Yankees (1954, 1957 [start] ), Kansas City Athletics (1957 [end] -1958 [start] ), Cleveland Indians (1958 [end] -1964), Washington Senators (1965), Baltimore Orioles (1966-1967 [start] ), California Angels (1967 [end] -1968 [start] ) and Chicago White Sox (1968 [end] -1969). He batted and threw right handed.

Career

In a 14-season career, Held posted a .240 batting average with 179 home runs and 559 RBI in 1390 games played. Difficulties with ground balls caused him to switch from being a shortstop to being an outfielder. [1957 T.C.G. baseball card]
