James Ray Hart (born October 30, 1941 in Hookerton, North Carolina, and known to baseball fans as Jim Ray Hart), is a retired third baseman in Major League Baseball. He played for the National League's San Francisco Giants from 1963 to 1973 and the American League's New York Yankees in 1973 and 1974. Hart batted and threw right-handed.

In a 12-season career, Hart posted a .278 batting average, with 170 home runs and 578 RBI in 1,125 major league games played in the major leagues. He might have had more home runs, had he not been played the majority of his career in the homer-unfriendly Candlestick Park, where the legendary gusts of wind made folly of even the mightiest of shots.Fact|date=March 2007

Highlights

Jim Ray Hart was a fan favorite in San Francisco. He was highly touted, but never was what one would call a "great player." However, he did have some notable achievements in baseball, including playing in the National League All-Star game in 1966, and hitting for the cycle on July 8, 1970.
