Specialty show (radio)

Specialty show (radio)

Specialty shows are generally hosted by more senior members of a college radio station. An application to host a specialty show is put in as an attachment with the regular application at the beginning of a semester. If granted, instead of playing a variety of music out of the new bin, the host plays music aligned with a certain theme or genre instead. Themes are generally fairly specific, such as psychedelic rock, krautrock, 20th century composers, electronic dub, music of India, local music, etc etc.
