Jorge Lombi

Jorge Maximiliano Lombi (born November 1, 1971 in Buenos Aires) is a field hockey player from Argentina, who made his debut for the national squad in 1991 in a friendly against Spain. He's the penalty corner specialist, who currently plays for Club de Campo in Madrid, Spain. His brother, Pablo, played for Argentina at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He started to play hockey aged seven at the La Salle Club.

Lombi was the top goal scorer at the 2000 Sydney Olympics (thirtheen goals), the 2002 World Cup (ten goals) in Kuala Lumpur, the 2001 Champions Challenge (seven goals) and the 2003 Champions Trophy (ten goals) in Amstelveen, The Netherlands. Before the 2004 Athens Olympic Games he was the top scorer for the national team, scoring 297 goals in 224 matches. In 1999 Lombi played for HC Klein Zwitserland in the Netherlands, before moving in 2002 to play for Club de Campo Madrid.

Lombi also plays for the Hyderabad Sultans in the Indian Premier Hockey League. In the fall of 2008 he was dismissed from the national team by Argentina's head coach, Carlos Retegui.
