"To the Last Man: A Novel of the First World War" (2004) is an historical novel written by Jeff Shaara about the experience of a number of combatants in World War I. It was written as a stand-alone novel, but could also be viewed as a prequel to the project that Shaara is currently involved with, which is a trilogy about World War II in Europe and North Africa.

The novel is based on the arrival of American troops and General John J. Pershing on the Western Front in 1917. This novel moves in a new direction from Shaara's previous novels by focusing not only on generals, such as Pershing, but also on the everyday American doughboys. This novel also provides WW1 experiences through a young fictional character Roscoe Temple. In the first chapter there is a short chapter about a new British recruit refilling the ranks, only to be killed during an attack on the German trenches several hours later.

The book also focuses the newly developed art of air warfare, profiling aces such as Germany's Manfred von Richthofen and America's Raoul Lufbery. The book became a national best seller recently. It received praise from people such as General Tommy Franks.
