Rishton is a small town in the
Hyndburndistrict of Lancashire, England, about 2 miles west of Clayton-le-Moorsand 4 miles east of Blackburn. It constituted an urban districtfrom 1894 to 1974.
Rishton was the first place that the

cricketteam. Its more notable professional was Viv Richardsin 1987. One of Rishton's finest has to be Peter Sleepwho has been involved with the club for many years and set a new amateur batting record of 1080 runs in a season.Other former professional include, former England Coach Duncan Fletcher, Sky Sports' very own Michael Holdingformer West Indies international, Aussie fast bowler Jason Gillespie, former South African cricket captain Allan Donaldand Sri Lankan right-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler Kumar Dharmasena.

Located on Rishton Reservoir at the side of Cutwood Park, East Lancs Sailing Club sails Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. ELSC is also a RYA training establishment.
