Jasmine Thomas is a fictional character in the British soap opera "Emmerdale". She is played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Overview

Jasmine first appeared on "Emmerdale" in the summer of 2005. Sent to the village by her parents after a spell at boarding school she moved in with her uncle Ashley Thomas, the local vicar. Due to the small size of the village and her youth Jasmine was far from happy. She was at first a lonely figure, only making friends with Steph Stokes. However she soon became friends with Debbie Dingle, despite being polar opposites, and Daz Eden. She also grew to respect and love her uncle.

After a brief spell back at boarding school, during which she was expelled after taking the rap for a prank, she returned to the village. It was at this time her grandfather Sandy arrived and Jasmine became close to him. Ashley and Sandy did not at first see eye to eye but Jasmine and her aunt Laurel managed to reunite them. After another brief spell at boarding school Jasmine was expelled. After much grovelling she managed to get a place at the local college to take her A Levels.

Relationship with Debbie Dingle

In March 2006, a confused Jasmine engaged in a lesbian kiss with Debbie. Debbie originally only kissed her to get a reaction from her father Cain. However the two young women became confused about their feelings for each other and shared a brief relationship. Jasmine becomes involved in the battle between the Dingle father and daughter when Cain seduces her. Hurt at being used by Cain and trying hard to get Debbie to forgive her things get worse when she realises she is pregnant. She has an abortion and is eventually forgiven by her family and Debbie, although her friendship with Debbie ends permanently when Debbie, along with Scott Windsor steal money from Rodney Blackstock and refuse to return it, despite moral Jasmine's attempts to do so. They managed to patch up their friendship about eight months later.

Tom King's murderer?

In January 2007, Jasmine decides to become a journalist and is set the task of finding Tom King's murderer. When Jasmine discovers that her close friend, Jamie Hope, lied about his whereabouts at the time of Tom's death, she wonders if Jamie killed Tom. The digital camera which implicates Jamie is stolen and Debbie, who takes it, tells Jamie and Jasmine that they will only get it back in exchange for £500. Jamie and Jasmine call the police and Debbie hands the camera back; Jasmine is relieved that Jamie is off the hook.

Parish's 500th anniversary

Later that year, during the festivities to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the parish of Emmerdale, Jasmine was due to take part in a beauty contest organised by Louise Appleton. However Jasmine felt unhappy about the costume and did not like being made to feel like an object so she pulled out. Eventually the contest itself was cancelled.

Realtionship with David Metcalfe

Jasmine struck up a strong friendship with Eric Pollard's son, David Metcalfe. The two dated until she found out that Eric Pollard was pretending to be Pearl Ladderbanks friend and was in fact swindling and deceiving her and David knew. She passed on the news to Pearl and used her charms to get David to give her a car which she gave to Pearl. Jasmine and David got back together, but their status as a couple was a brief one, thanks to the return of the two-faced Fact|date=June 2008 daughter of Rodney Blackstock, Nicola.

Jasmine vs. Nicola

Jasmine's fears that Nicola (now sporting the surname De Souza) planned to steal David's affection from her seem like that they might be realised. Rather than resort to a cat fight, Miss Thomas decided to use the knowledge that Nicola isn't yet a widow, even though she claimed that she was, to her advantage. It is Jasmine's intention that Nicola's stepson gets the inheritance instead of Nasty Fact|date=June 2008 Nicola. Ultimately, David moved into a short-lived relationship with Nicola, while Jasmine helped Miles De Souza stay on the wagon.

Relationship with Miles De Souza

Jasmine and Miles cared for each other, but were afraid to act on their feelings. Finally, Debbie pushed Miles to pretend they were dating, just to make Jasmine want to take the next step. Debbie's plan worked, and Jasmine and Miles became a couple.

Due to the money needed for a new promotions expert, Jasmine was fired from her job working for the Kings. After falling behind on the rent, Debbie pushed her to find a new place of employment. Despite having no experience, Diane hired her for the Woolpack, saying they could use a pretty face behind the bar.

On 16 June, Miles planned to take Jasmine on holiday, but because of his jealousy of Jake Doland's flirting with Jasmine she declined. He confronted her about it and he said that he was going to go back to drinking excessively, he did but Jasmine stopped him straight away, only for her to say that enough is enough and the relationship ended.

Relationship with Jake Doland

Miles erractic and jealousy towards Jake may not have been out of context when it looks like Jasmine and Jake may begin a relationship.

Jake and Jasmine were initially wary of each other, since she was Ashley's niece, but after Jasmine reminded Greg and Mel of Jake's 18th birthday and got Jake a job at Woolpack, he became close to her then at Donald De Souza's birthday party they kissed unaware that Miles was behind them.
