Destiny of an Emperor II

Destiny of an Emperor-II (DoaE-II) is the English name given to "Tenchi wo Kurai-II: the Story of Kong Ming". The game plot follows the life of Zhuge Liang, the great military tactician of China's late Han Dynasty. Its commercial release was a Japanese-only Famicom sequel to the first Destiny of an Emperor. Capcom of America ported the original game to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), in English, but did not translate two later games in the series for either the NES or the Game Boy.

This inspired several amateur translation groups to attempt an English patch, but complex recoding challenges, such as substring compression, and DoaE-II's lengthy dialogue dumps in Chinese, kanji, hiragana, and katakana, delayed the project for several years until a group called Magic-Destiny assembled the necessary talent from around the world. Once Magic-Destiny obtained a comprehensive DoaE-II strategy guide from Japan, the furigana employed therein aided translation of the archaic kanji usages in the script, but unfortunately uncovered a number of historical inaccuracies and outright fabrications in the storyline.
