Auckley is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, about five miles east of Doncaster town centre. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 3,266. The parish includes the villages of Auckley and Hayfield Green.

Auckley also has two mainstream schools providing education for local children from the surrounding catchement areas. Auckley Junior and Infant School for the under 11's and The Hayfield School for those over 11.

The Hayfield School ranks consistently as one of the best schools in the region. It was the 2nd highest achieving school for 2006/2007 in the entire Doncaster district (for GCSE results). [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/education/06/school_tables/secondary_schools/html/371_gcse_lea.stm]

Every August there is an annual show on the playing fields called the 'Auckley Show'. ( [http://AuckleyShow.co.uk] )It is generally centred around a large Marquee that is erected on the playing fields. Dances, discos and gardening competitions play a role in the events. The rest of the field consists of a large car-boot sale, stalls from various government branches (usually Fire service and Police) and personal stalls. The main event lasts 1 day (on a Saturday) with the Marquee open from the Friday through to the early hours of Sunday morning. Traditionally there is always a 'tug-of-war' match at some point in the afternoon.

The village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. [cite web | title = The Domesday Book Index|url= http://www.haughton.net/domesdaybookplaces_a3.htm| publisher = Haughton.net| accessdate = 2007-11-04 ]

Auckley has 2 large (and famous) fishing lakes, called Hayfield Lakes. These lakes are used to hold the Fishomania contest, which is always live on Sky Sports once a year. In 2006 the event was held on 21st July and it lasted 6 hours. In 2006, prize money for the winner reached £68,000, which makes the contest one of the most lucrative in the fishing calendar.
