Reed's School

Reed's School

Reed's School is an independent day and boarding school for boys located in Cobham, Surrey, England. It was founded in 1813 by the Reverend Andrew Reed as the London Asylum for Orphans, a charitable boarding school. The orphanage was sponsored by a host of notables including the Duke of Wellington.

The School was originally sited in Clapton, London, moving to Watford, Hertfordshire, in 1872, and to its present site in Cobham, Surrey, in 1946.It began to take fee-paying pupils in 1958, but retains its charitable element, with Foundation Scholarships for boys who have lost one or both parents. It also maintains strong connections with the Armed Forces. It is a small school of only 550 pupils — boys only until the fifth form, admitting girls in the sixth form.

The School's Patron is Her Majesty the Queen, who officially visited the school in 1997.
