"Turn Up the Beat" is the debut single by Australian pop singer Tina Arena, released in 1985. It was never released outside Australia. Despite television exposure on a number of programmes, the single was not a commercial success and failed to make any chart impact. As no follow up album was released, the songs on this single (the title track and the ballad "Dreamer") are among the rarest in Arena's catalogue and copies on either 7" or 12" vinyl are treasured collectibles.

Pam Reswick and Steve Werfel, who penned this song with C. Lieberman, went on to co-write Arena's 1994 hit singles "Chains".

ong information

"Turn Up the Beat" was written by P. Reswick, S. Werfel and C. Lieberman and recorded in 1984 at Flagstaff Studios. The single was released the following year by Graffiti Records and distributed and manufactured by Polygram Records. "Dreamer", the single's B-side, was written by G. Petherick and recorded at the same time. Both tracks were produced by Brian Cadd and engineered by Ern Rose.
