The Viséan age is the middle of three ages in the
Mississippian subperiodof the CarboniferousPeriod. It lasted from 345.3±2.1 to 326.5±1.6 million years ago. It was preceded by the Tournasianage and followed by the Serpukhovianage.
The Viséan is named for the Belgian city of
Viséjust south of Maastricht, in the northern Ardennes.
