Englehart, Ontario

Englehart is a town in the district of Timiskaming, province of Ontario, Canada. (2006 population 1,494.) It was built in 1908 by the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway, what would later become the Ontario Northland Railway, as a rest stop between North Bay and Cochrane. The town was named after Jacob Lewis Englehart, a key figure in the development of the T & N.O. Today, Englehart's importance as a railway town has diminished, and the biggest employer is an oriented strand board (OSB) facility owned by Grant Forest Products.
