The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is the world's oldest and largest professional organization dedicated to advancing cancer research. The AACR is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and focuses on all aspects of cancer research including basic, clinical and translational research into the etiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Founded in 1907 by eleven physicians and scientists, the organization now has more than 27,000 members in 80 countries. AACR marshals the full spectrum of expertise from the cancer community to accelerate progress in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer through high-quality scientific and educational programs.

Meetings & Workshops

AACR offers over a dozen special conferences geared toward cancer researchers throughout the year that present novel data across a wide variety of topics in cancer research, treatment and patient care. The AACR also conducts a unique series of educational workshops that offers young scientists the latest scientific information along with critical skills that include mentoring, networking and career development opportunities.

The AACR Foundation for the Prevention and Cure of Cancer

The AACR Foundation for the Prevention and Cure of Cancer is a 501(c)(3) public charity that strives to accelerate progress in the conquest of cancer by providing financial support for scientific research, education and communication. The Foundation funds programs deemed by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) to be of the highest priority and impact.

The leadership of the AACR Foundation for the Prevention and Cure of Cancer envisions a healthier world, free of death and suffering due to cancer, resulting from ongoing scientific advancement.

The Foundation's goals are to accelerate progress against cancer through:
