Europe in the early 1970s.Career
Lead singer Sally Carr (born 28 March 1945),drummer Ken Andrew (b. 28 August 1947),guitarist Ian McCredie (b. 15 July 1948) and on the bass his brother Eric McCredie (17 July 1945 - 6 October 2007) fromGlasgow founded the band on 1 April 1970. But they already played together under the name "Part Three" since 1967 and later in Latin American style under the name "Los Caracas".They moved to
Italy in 1970, because they had not found success in theUnited Kingdom . There they met the Italianmusic producer Giacomo Tosti, who gave the band their distinctive sound and gave them their international break.The band had its first and biggest hit "
Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep " in April 1971. "Middle of the Road" had fivehit single s in theUK Singles Chart . The band had enduring success only inGermany , where they achieved eleven hits."Soley, Soley" became a huge hit in the
Faroe Islands because of the fact, that the girl name "Sóley(ð/g)" is very common, and it furthermore pronounced the same way as the song's title.In 1974 guitarist Neil Henderson (b. 11 February 1953) from Glasgow accompanied the band. He wrote some
song s for Middle of the Road, but their commercial success could not keep pace with the earlier songs. Today the band still plays at music events under the name 'Middle of the Road featuring Sally Carr'.Discography
