Luzon B. Morris

Luzon Buritt Morris (April 161827 – August 221895) was an American Democratic politician.

Morris was born in Newtown, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale University in 1854. He served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, a Connecticut probate judge, a member of the Connecticut Senate and as the Governor of Connecticut. He was the only member of his party to hold the governorship between 1885 and 1911.

During his tenure in the Connecticut General Assembly he was a member of the commission that settled the border dispute with New York.

Morris was also notable for been an officer of the Connecticut Savings Bank for several years, some as the president.

Morris died of a stroke, at his home, in New Haven, Connecticut at the age of 68. He is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven, Connecticut.

His daughter, Mary Seymour Morris, married oil industrialist Charles Millard Pratt (1855-1935), and they had five children.
