Nancy Farmer (born 1941) is an acclaimed children's author from the United States.

Farmer was born in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1963 she received her B.S. degree from Reed College, then enlisted in the Peace Corps from 1963–1965, and eventually became a lab technician in Zimbabwe from 1975–1978, where she met her future husband, Harold. After a week-long courtship, the two were married. Farmer currently lives in Menlo Park, California, with her husband; they have one son, Daniel.
