- Seven-Star Cave
Seven-Star Cave (Chinese: 七星岩;
Pinyin : Qīxīngyán) is contained withinSeven-Star Park , both are popular tourist attractions withinGuilin ,Guangxi .China .Seven-star cave has a history of exploration dating back to the
Tang Dynasty (1,300 years ago).The cave has a year round temperature of about 20 Celsius. For a reference of size, the maximum height inside is 27 meters, and the maximum width is 49 meters. There is a concrete/stone tour path through the cave, which is approximately 1,000 meters long. They have artificial lighting, and each formation has "names" such as "a natural fresco".
The cave has scheduled tours (about once an hour) which are conducted entirely in mandarin. The tours are typically conducted via electronic megaphone (despite the size of the group). A great deal of time is spent explaining what each rock formation looks like (e.g., dragon eating a bear, bear catching a tiger, and so on).
Like most parks in Guilin, there are entrance fee(s) to enter. In the case of Seven-star cave, you must pay to enter the park (seven-star park admission is 30RMB), and again to enter the cave (an additional 20 RMB)
