John Bowler (born in
Newcastle upon Tyne) is an English actor who is best known for playing P.C. Roger Valentinein ITV’s " The Bill" since 2004.
He was educated in
Yorkshire, and trained in acting in Glasgow. After a number of TV appearances in his early career, in 1988, John first gained wider recognition for his portrayal of the regular character David Lynch in the romantic sitcom " Watching", alongside Liza Tarbuck. He remained in the role until the series ended in 1993.
His extensive list of television credits includes regular roles in "
Steel River Blues", " Woof!", "Castles" and " Peak Practice", as well as guest appearances in series such as " Agatha Christie's Poirot", "Casualty", "Heartbeat", " Kavanagh QC", "Dangerfield", " Grange Hill", " Drop The Dead Donkey" and " Auf Wiedersehen, Pet".
John has also enjoyed stints in three of the UK's most popular soap operas, playing Dougie Slade in "
EastEnders", John Wilding in " Coronation Street" and Ethan Black in "Crossroads".
