Le Studio

Le Studio

Le Studio was a recording studio located just south of the tourist town of Morin Heights, Quebec. Le Studio was built by producers Andre Perry and Nick Blagona [ [http://www.nickblagona.com Nick Blagona's Web Site] ] in 1971. From 1976 to 2001, the studio was used by many Canadian and international artists to record hit albums.

Present

According to Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist of Rush, Le Studio has closed and sits abandoned not far from his residence in Quebec: "I drove us [Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee] to my house on the lake, sometimes playing Finnish rally driver on the snow-covered roads. Along the way, we passed near the village of Morin Heights, where we had shared so many good times, recording at Le Studio — now closed and abandoned. The number of albums we had made there stretched from "Permanent Waves" in 1979 to "Counterparts" in 1994." Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies has apparently obtained one of Le Studio's consoles and integrated it into his own studio, Fresh Baked Woods.

The site was for sale for 2,45M$ some time ago (posted July 2007). [ [http://www.naimontreal.ca/PropDocs/domainemorinheights.pdf Sale brochure] ]

It is now a retreat and Spa.
