Jack Hatfield

John Gatenby "Jack" Hatfield (15 August 1893–30 March 1965) was a competitive swimmer, who won medals for Great Britain in the early Olympic Games.

Born in the Stokesley district of West Yorkshire, [England & Wales Birth Register Index: John Gatenby Hatfield; Jul-Aug-Sep 1893; district: Stokesley; volume: 9d; page: 628] he went on to found a sporting goods store in Middlesbrough which continues business today. The store sponsors local sports, including a football league.

He served in the British Expeditionary Force in World War I.

* 1912 silver medal (400m, 1500m freestyle), bronze medal (freestyle relay);

* 1928 (swimmer, water polo player)
