United States House of Representatives elections, 1830

The U.S. House election, 1830 was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1830.

The brass style of Congress during the reign of Andrew Jackson caused a number of Americans to become disconent with the government and both of its major parties. The Democrats remained firmly in control of the House, but lost several seats. The Anti-Masonic Party, the aspiring third party which was based on a single issue (distrust of Freemasonry), was actually able to gain several seats, and four Southern Congressman who called themselves Nullifiers (based on the principle of states' rights) were also elected.
