American Routes

American Routes

"American Routes" is a public radio program hosted by Nick Spitzer that explores connections between the many musical styles that have blossomed in the United States. It began in the late 1990s, and originates from studios in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. American Public Media acquired the distribution rights from Public Radio International [American Public Media Press Release, http://americanpublicmedia.publicradio.org/press/archive/pr_030207.html] on March 2, 2007.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, production of the show temporarily relocated to KRVS 88.7 FM at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, Louisiana. [Samuel G. In July 2008, American Routes announced an affiliation with Tulane University in New Orleans. [ New Orleans CityBusiness article (July 17, 2008), http://www.neworleanscitybusiness.com/uptotheminute.cfm?recid=18622]
