tv_com_id = 1539 "Sit Down, Shut Up" was a short-lived Australian sitcom broadcast by Network Ten. It ran from 16 February 2001 until 28 June 2001 for a total of 13 episodes.

The series followed the staff and students at a dysfunctional fictional high school called Carpen Heights Secondary College, and focussed on the life of the teachers in and out of the staff room.

Michael Reed, a writer for the show has claimed that "Summer Heights High", a more successful show with similar themes that debuted in 2007, had borrowed certain concepts from "Sit Down, Shut Up". American remake

In 2008, an animated remake of the series titled Sit Down, Shut Up (as a working title) is being made. This title is likely to remain. After a short writers strike, the series continues to be in development for Fox for it's premiere this Fall. It was developed by Mitchell Hurwitz, creator of "Arrested Development", also starring Arnett, Bateman and Winkler. "The Simpsons" writers Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein will act as showrunners.
