The Chase, also known as The Chase Technology College and The Chase High School, is a secondary school (ages 11-18) in Malvern, Worcestershire, England. It was opened by Viscount Cobham on 26 March 1955. It is one of the largest schools in Worcestershire, having over 1,700 on roll and around 200 staff members. The location is on a flat site close to a large technology company, QinetiQ, and the Malvern Hills Science Park.

Background

The Chase has been a specialist schools programme Technology College since 1999, and was awarded Beacon school status in 2002. The Chase is also a Language College (French, German, Spanish and Japanese). The school has Sportsmark Gold status, this is awarded to schools by Sport England for the excellent in provision of Physical Education and school sport. It is administered by the Worcestershire County Directorate of Educational Services, and Brian O'Connell is the head of governors. Current headmaster Kevin Peck replaced David Fawbert in 2002, who had been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to education during his tenure. There are 16 primary schools in Malvern that feed The Chase and nearby Dyson Perrins High School. The average A level results in 2005 were AAB.

The school underwent a two day OFSTED inspection which started on 22 February 2006, and was described as "good with some outstanding features".

Traditions

On the second to last day of the school calendar, all students and staff take part in the traditional walk over the nearby Malvern Hills. The only time this has not taken place since the first walk in 1977 was in 2006, when it was felt that the weather was too hot."'Head Boy and Girl"' Head's are Rosie Barr and Harry Jelley. Deputy's are Tom Ridley, Dan Thompson, Alice Bond, Emily Sullivan, Andrea Savidge, Tom Knowles, Katie Wulstenhulme, Tim Newman, Rachel Worsley, Zoe Kennedy-Hughes.
