Ratchagar

Fr. Ratchagar is a Catholic priest from the Archdiocese of Pondicherry-Cuddalore in South India. He has served in the field of education for many years building several schools and colleges and providing educational opportunities for the general population at an affordable cost. He has also turned around poorly performing schools in to eminent institutions. He has won several accolades and awards for his service in education including the President of India award as India's best teacher.

Currently he is serving as the director of PMSS, a social service organization based in Pondicherry. In this capacity, he is serving downtrodden and underprivileged people. This also provides a good opportunity for them and enables them to be on their own. He has established several facilities to help and serve the people including a facility for mentally challenged citizens. After the tsunami struck Southern India in December 2004, he mobilized lot of troops on the ground and was able to directly help the affected people. In addition to this, he undertook several fundraising activities thereby helping fisherman buy new equipment, boats, etc and enabling them to get back to their normal lives.
