Authoritative Answer

Authoritative Answer

Authoritative Answer or aa is a flag in the answer from a query to a DNS server. It can be seen in the Domain_Information_Groper-dig DNS lookup utility output when a server gives an authoritative answer, because the server is an authority for the domain.

AA - Authoritative Answer - this bit is valid in responses, and specifies that the responding name server is anauthority for the domain name in question section.Note that the contents of the answer section may havemultiple owner names because of aliases. The AA bitcorresponds to the name which matches the query name, orthe first owner name in the answer section.See RFC 1035
