WAPE in the past has celebrated anniversary milestones dating back to the sign-on of the original WAPE-AM in 1957. Some of its alumni include The Greaseman, Cleveland Wheeler, actor Jay Thomas, Mark Driscoll, Kandy Klutch (now on XM's "80s on 8"), and local legends Hoyle Dempsey, Tom Murphy, JJ the Night Guy, Tony Mann, Mark the Shark, Billy Goat, Steve Sutton, Jay Styles, and Chris Trane (Trane On The Radio).
